Our Work

Building systems that prevent, treat, and care

Our mandate spans prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care — delivered through large-scale, system-integrated public health programmes.

Prevention & Screening

Antenatal & Population Screening

For decades, we have responded after children are born with lifelong illnesses. VEHA steps in to change that sequence. We run antenatal screening programmes across CMC Vellore, Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital, and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion) — incorporating prevention strategies and capabilities seamlessly into their existing systems.

Project MUKTA, our flagship initiative with FOGSI, is scaling antenatal screening nationwide.

Bone Marrow Transplant Capacity Building

Care Infrastructure Expansion

Strengthening India's curative and comprehensive care capacity through the establishment of bone marrow transplant units, paediatric and adult thalassemia services, and integrated care centres in partnership with leading public hospitals.

Our current partnerships include support for Bone Marrow Transplant programmes at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion Hospital) and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEM) in Mumbai — two of India's most important public healthcare institutions.

Our Approach

These centres serve as proof points for scalable, high-quality transplant care within the public health system — demonstrating that curative treatment can be delivered equitably at scale.

Community & Patient Support

Holistic Care Pathways

Young child in hospital giving a thumbs up — resilience through care

Ensuring that families receive counselling, clinical guidance, and clear access pathways across prevention, treatment, and long-term care. We believe no family should navigate a complex illness alone.

Our community support programmes connect patients and families with clinical resources, emotional support, and practical guidance — from initial diagnosis through ongoing management and, where appropriate, curative treatment options.

Our Commitment

From the moment of diagnosis through every stage of care, we walk alongside families — connecting them with the right clinicians, the right resources, and the right support at the right time.

Palliative Care

Compassionate Care & Partnerships

Championing innovation, training, and public awareness to strengthen access to quality palliative care nationwide. For those living with chronic complex illnesses, we believe in dignified, compassionate care at every stage.

Most recently, this commitment was expressed through A Good Life by acclaimed author Jerry Pinto — a landmark narrative project bringing compassionate care to the forefront of public consciousness.

Our Approach

We work through deep partnerships with specialist palliative care organisations, building capacity, sharing knowledge, and ensuring that compassionate end-of-life and chronic care reaches those who need it most.
